Cathy Ilene Leibovitz, nee Sleph, age 76, of West Rogers Park, beloved wife and best friend for almost 57 years of Michael “Mike” Leibovitz; loving mother of Rachel Leibovitz and Cal (Carolyn) Leibovitz; devoted daughter of the late Jacob and the late Dorothy Sleph; dear sister of Rhoda Harris and the late Elaine (late Jack) Meltzer; cherished sister-in-law of Steven (Harriette) Leibovitz and Yudie (partner Scott Stefanski) Leibovitz; treasured aunt of Jeanne (Carl) Janus, Susie (Shawn Nepo) Harris, Joy Donovan, Mark Meltzer, Ben (Liz) Leibovitz, Jessica (partner Kenny Pacheco) Leibovitz and the late Joseph Leibovitz and also survived by their children and grandchildren.

Cathy was known for her compassion, kindness, and intelligence. She loved traveling with her family to national parks all over the country and especially loved seeing the waterfalls and mountains. In her free time, Cathy enjoyed going to museums, a local park, or reading a good book, especially scifi and was a huge fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. Cathy was an avid knitter and crocheter and loved all her friends in her knitting group. She liked creating personalized gifts from her beautiful needlework.

Cathy also enjoyed her time spent as an amateur radio operator, under the callsign, KA9ZWZ, which she used for her volunteer work and Walk for Israel. She was also a lifetime member of Hadassah. Cathy will be dearly missed by all.
