Bonita "Bonnie" Fixler

Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Fixler, nee Wepman, 81; happily married for 57 years to her beloved husband, the late Marc Fixler; devoted mother of Jason (Jenny Glick) Fixler and Debra (Kevin) Kulinski; proud grandma of Alisa and Noah Fixler and Chase Kulinski; treasured sister of the late Lael Whitney, Bette Sue (Howard) Rittman, and Naomi (the late Marc) Shaberman; loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. Bonnie was a cherished elementary school teacher for over 30 years and taught kindergarten at Betsy Ross School in Prospect Heights. Even after she retired she continued to substitute teach preschool children at the Buffalo Grove Jewish Community Center. Her teaching went on even further when she volunteered at a local nursing home, helping every week with Shabbat services and singing Hebrew songs with the residents. Her love of singing, teaching and caring deeply for her family and friends will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Working in the Schools, www.witschicago.org/donate. Chapel service Sunday, June 22, 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W.
