Obituary
Blanche Levin, nee Loiben, age 96, of Lincolnwood, formerly of Skokie and Chicago, passed away on April 10, 2026, beloved wife of the late Maurice; loving mother of Terry, Neil (Deborah Cadigan), Sherri and the late Joni Ann; adored grandmother of April and Daniel; devoted daughter of the late Morris and the late Florence (nee Klein) Loiben; cherished sister of Dr. Donald (Lois) Loiben and the late Ben (late Elka) Loiben, late Marion (late Louis) Swidler, and the late George Loiben.
Blanche was the child of Jewish immigrants from Konin, Poland and Kremenchug, Ukraine, and lost her mother at age 5.
After overcoming shyness and stuttering as a child, Blanche grew into an attractive and accomplished woman with a wicked sense of humor who was devoted to family and her lifelong childhood friends.
She was a working mother, with a long career as a legal secretary on LaSalle Street in Chicago, and later as the customer service manager at Searle Consumer Products and assistant to the store managers at both Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales in Old Orchard Mall. She worked full-time until the age of 79, when health issues forced her to retire.
She quoted Helen Keller, "All that we have once enjoyed, we can never lose; all that we have loved deeply becomes a part of us."
