Obituary

Barbara Sue Schwartz, nee Kaplan, age 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 10, 2024 in Delray Beach, Florida. Born in 1943 in Chicago, Barbara was the oldest daughter of the late Samuel Kaplan and Ruth Smargon Kaplan.
Barbara, along with her younger sister Janet (Kaplan) Rothkopf, graduated from the University of Illinois. After teaching for several years, Barbara transitioned to catering and eventually to food sales, becoming one of the top salespeople at her company and inspiring many women in the food sales industry.
Barbara and her husband of 58 years Ronald raised their sons, David and Jeffrey, in Morton Grove, Illinois. After her retirement, Barbara and Ronald split time between Chicago and Florida, eventually moving permanently to South Florida in 2013.
Barbara is survived by Ronald, David, Jeffrey; her daughter-in-law Nicole; her sister Janet; as well as her five grandchildren: Noah, Maya, Claire, Samantha, and Rebecca Schwartz.
