Obituary

Barbara A. Oko, nee Phelps, 81, beloved wife of Sidney for 42 wonderful years; loving mother of Nicole Spivack Hemmati (Sia Hemmati), Jeffery Oko, Dawn Barr Tovrog (Danny Tovrog), Andrew Spivack, Lauren Fryman, John Spivack; doting mother of her fur baby Morrie; cherished Nonnie of Hanna and Abby Hemmati, Sydney Oko, Maya Barr and Baylah Tovrog; bonus grandma “Barb” to Jamie and Jessie Fryman; devoted daughter of the late Freda and Sherman Phelps; dear sister of Sharon (Bill) Coon; treasured aunt to Gary Coon, Shari Coon, Jill Hildreth (Scott Hildreth), adored by her great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends of many.


Barb was filled with a fun, playful, energetic and exciting personality. She was a lover of all things cultural, artistic, and musical. She was a true friend. Her booming laughter was contagious. She was a free spirited artist who showed her work in Florida and and was a student of art there as well. She was very charitable and loved to help those in need. She sat on the board of JARC for 25 years of which 2 she the president.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to JARC Jewish Association for Residential Care or Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center-The University of Miami. Services are private.
