Obituary

Isidore Shiffman of Hartsdale, NY, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, 5/11/2023.
Iz was born in Russia 1/19/1928 to parents, Joseph Shiffman and Sonia Pierotinskya Shiffman. 1n 1931 the family emigrated to Palestine and to the US in 1939. He served in the US Army Occupation Forces in Austria from 1946-1948. In 1948, he also married Roselyn Greenberg Shiffman. They were married for 72 years until Roselyn’s passing on 5/12/2021. Iz was a Mechanical Engineer (Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute 1952) by profession but an artist at heart who worked in a variety of mediums, sculpture, painting, cartoons, ceramics, glass. He loved skiing, hiking, tennis, traveling the world with Roz and spending time with his grandchildren. Iz was generous, intelligent, stubborn and loved by his family and friends.
He is survived by sons Gary Shiffman and his wife Vivian, son Steven Shiffman and his wife Jennifer. Grandchildren – Jonathan Shiffman, Benjamin Shiffman, Samantha Shiffman, Jacob Shiffman, Sophia Shiffman, Jill Colantino Vaughan and Anthony Colantino. Great grandchildren Rachel Vaughan, Brody Vaughan and Joanna Rose Shiffman. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Shiffman, his wife Yvette and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Mt Hope Cemetery in Hastings on Hudson Mon 5/15/2023 at 11 am.
