Obituary

Martin Steven Neier of Rockville, MD passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, at the age of 72. After many years of declining health, the complications of COVID19 were too much for our beloved Marty to overcome. He died peacefully, surrounded by medical professionals who stepped up as surrogate family members, during this unprecedented pandemic, caring for him, showing him compassion and respect, in his family’s absence.

Marty dedicated his life to building Jewish culture, and evolving access to Judaism through his philanthropic work in fund raising. He was a teacher, a boss, and mentor that championed his colleagues, and thrived when leading a team.

He is survived by his loving children, Samantha Neier (Ryan Diener) and Whitney Neier (Adam Kindervatter-Clark); sister, Helen (late Fred) Goldstein; grandchildren, Mason Diener, Sadie Clark and Walter Clark, and his companion Lorna Frehm. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anna Neier.

A Virtual Funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:30pm. Interment is private. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, 6101 Executive Blvd, Suite 100, North Bethesda, MD 20852 or the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington, 6121 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852. For our Australian brethren, contributions can be made to the Mount Scopus Memorial College Foundation, 245 Burwood Highway, Burwood, Victoria, 3125.
