Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Himmelfarb, 87. Beloved husband for 68 years to Adrienne, nee Pondel; devoted father of Judy (Joel) Sims and Barry (Jan) Himmelfarb; cherished grandfather of Josh Sims, Daniel (Cynthia) Sims, Michelle (Jordan) Emmorey, Jami (Mike) Raymond, Rikki (Matt) Peota, and Cobi (Andy) Wahrer; proud great-grandfather of Shane, Shira, Charlee, Judah, Levi, Penelope, Aaliyah, and Millie; dear brother of Betty (the late Irving) Weintroub and Sarae (Dr. Zuli) Steremberg; loving uncle and great-uncle of many. Jerry was a longtime member of IBEW Local 134 and owner of Abbey Electric in Chicago. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org, Congregation Kneseth Israel, www.ckielgin.org, or McHenry County Jewish Congregation, www.mcjconline.org. Chapel service Weds, Sept. 18, 10 AM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment at Shalom Memorial Park.
