Obituary

Bernard "Bernie" M. Baum, age 89, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025; beloved husband of the late Barbara L. Baum (née Barron), with whom he shared 57 wonderful years; adored son of the late Martin and Florence Baum, loving father of Kathy (Stephen) Rosenblat and Richard (Wendy) Baum; cherished grandfather of Joshua (Hannah) Rosenblat, Noah Rosenblat, and Jordan and Tyler Baum; much loved great-grandfather of Josie Bea Rosenblat; brother of Robert Baum (Mary Beth Kretz); treasured uncle of Ellen (Joel) Feldman, Laurie (Michael Yelnosky) Barron, and Stacey Steeg; caring companion of the late Diane "DeeDee" Heller. A devoted cousin, friend, and colleague to many. He will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. Though family was always his top priority, Bernie's passion for the law fueled a remarkable career. Among his proudest achievements were helping to establish the National Football League Players Association and successfully arguing before the United States Supreme Court in 1972. Memorial donations in his honor to The Vision for Tomorrow Foundation, www.visionfortomorrow.org. Chapel service, Wednesday, September 17, 2025; 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W.
