Obituary

Beatrice “Trixie” Muchman, nee Westheimer, age 91, our beloved and beautiful Trixie passed away peacefully on April 28 in the presence of her daughter, grandson and her faithful dog. She was the cherished wife for 44 years of the late Irwin Muchman. Loving mother of Wendy (Sol Rajfer) Muchman and the late Robert “Robbie” Muchman. Adored “Nan” of Robert Rajfer and Michelle (Jeremy) Schlachet  and their children Asher and Julia, who brought her tremendous joy. Trixie later married the late Lawrence “Larry” Abrams for 21 years. She is also survived by her daughters by marriage to Karen Abrams, Elise (Bruce) Flack, and Melanie (Perry) Karsen and their children and grandchildren-Melissa and Mitchell Flack, Adam (Sofi) and their son Charlie, Josh (Sarina) Gelvan and their children Frankie and Sophie, Oren (Rosamond) Karsen their daughter Lila and Shira Karsen, who was very special to Trixie.

Trixie was an incredible and supportive mother, a best friend, and a uniquely adored grandmother to her grandson, Robert.

She will be remembered for so many reasons. She was the epitome of grace, style, resilience and strength. She survived the Holocaust as a hidden child; the loss of her parents (the late Julius and Meta Westheimer) at a young age; and the losses of her only son, Robbie, and two adoring husbands, Irwin and Larry. She is also preceded in death by her loving adopted parents, Werner and Margot Lewy and her dear in-laws Al and Anita Muchman. Forever a teacher, she inspired us all-to live life to the fullest in spite of deep pain, to never stop learning, and to never stop loving. She had a sharp intellect, was an avid reader, a concerned citizen, a fabulous cook, and a true and giving friend. She was a great listener and a wise counselor. She was an icon, a true force of nature, small but mighty. Trixie had a unique ability to capture people’s hearts and develop long and meaningful friendships. She leaves behind many treasured friends. She spoke often about her hidden childhood with the message of the power of individual responsibility and combatting hate in every form. She leaves us all an important legacy. Trixie will always be in our hearts. Mom, we love you forever and always.
