Obituary

Barbara Jean Novick, age 80, beloved daughter of the late Rudolph and the late Judith Novick; cherished partner of the late Kristyn Livingtone; dear sister of Laurence (Susan) Novick and aunt to his children; fond friend of Malkah Pollack Seligman. Barbara was trained as a Physical Therapist, she rose to supervise the Physical Therapy Department at St. Joseph Hospital. After further studies and a brief career in interior design, she found her calling in running the Chicago office of Pioneer Women / Naamat -- the Labor Zionist Women's Organization. Among many other things, she is remembered for the beautiful, artistic flyers and program booklets she created, year after year. At home, she collected and curated a remarkable collection of Native-American art and ornaments. After retirement from Naamat, she engaged in civic and volunteer work, serving on the Morton Grove Library Board and several charitable organizations.
