Jack Weissman (June 6, 1921 - June 8, 2021). Devoted son of the late Ben and Ida Weissman. Beloved husband of 69 years of the late Bernice Weissman. Loving father of Bruce Weissman, David Weissman (Ann Hubbs) and Ellen Weissman. Proud grandfather of Adam Weissman, Noah Montgomery and Clara Montgomery. Dear brother of the late Evelyn Heckmyer. Cherished uncle of Marilyn Heckmyer, the late Steve Heckmyer, Gail Heckmyer, Robert Pikowsky (Reta) and Richard Pikowsky, and special great uncle to Joe, Dan, Jennie and Dennis. Born in Chicago, longtime resident of Skokie, he lived in the Chicago area his entire life except during his service in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Northwestern University, received a Masters in journalism from Medill at Northwestern and completed additional graduate work at University of Chicago. Early in his career, he taught history, then edited Salesman’s Opportunity Magazine for many years and published several books under the pen name George Anderson. He greatly enjoyed 30+ years of retirement. Devoted to family and friends, Jack was a great raconteur, gardener and repository of 100 years of stories. He and Bernice were inseparable for 70 years and he missed her greatly since her death two years ago. He was determined to make it to his 100th birthday, and he did.
