Schiff, Mimi (Miriam S.) -Star of David Emblem - September 20, 2023, age 94 - Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend has come to rest peacefully. Predeceased by husband Lester H. Schiff, sister Lee Brod, father, Joseph A. Sapowitch and mother, Jeanette Sapowitch. Loving mother of Karen (Douglas) Lustig, Barbara (Alan) Fine, Janet (John DiFiore) Schiff-DiFiore and Sandy (Rob Robinson) Schiff. Loving grandmother of Ben (Michelle) Lustig, JoEllen Lustig (George Hathaway), Lindsay MacKenzie, David and Jeffrey Fine (Subhashni Raj), Rebecca DiFiore (Joshua Fowle), Elizabeth DiFiore (Vince Baier), and Sara DiFiore. Great grandmother of Alyssa and Austin MacKenzie, Finley and Ilyza Lustig, and Nikhil Raj Fine. Also survived by six nieces, two nephews and their families.
Her lifelong career as an artist began at the age of twelve having her first piece exhibited at the Albright Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York. Her lifetime of accomplishments in the art world spanned from one woman featured shows as well as eight juried shows, earning her much recognition. Commissioned work and National and International acknowledgements are also well noted. Her life's artwork culminated in creating Engrained Forever, a Holocaust Educational multimedia exhibit and has been shown in numerous cities throughout the country. Her love and flair for gardening, the arts, her community fundraising all had long lasting effects, gracing the community she served. She produced artwork that still graces many homes. She donated countless hours on multiple decorating committees for many fundraising events. Her dedication and devotion to the Jewish Community and her Beloved Temple Beth Israel was felt through her timeless works of art that now adorn other Jewish communities, still creating a space of beauty, sanctity and grace. Graveside burial with immediate family will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at Beth Israel Cemetery, Military Road, Niagara Falls, New York. Memorial service and reception for friends and relatives at the Niagara Falls Country Club will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount St Mary's Hospital, Hadassah, or any Jewish organization of your choice.
