Diane Ruth Symons - of Williamsville, NY September 16, 2023 Star of David Emblem
Diane was born on September 14, 1938 to Samuel and Blanche Subotnick. The widow of Gerald Symons (d. 2017), Diane is survived by her son Dr. Andrew Symons, daughter-in-law Einav, and grandchildren Gilad (Tampa, FL) and Shira of Buffalo, NY; her son Rabbi Ron Symons, daughter-in-law Rabbi Barbara Symons of Pittsburgh, PA, and grandchildren, Aviva (Oakland, CA), Ilana (NY, NY), and Micah (NY, NY); her sister Lois Resnick, brother-in-law David, and nieces Beth and Stefanie of New City, NY; her sister-in-Law Flora Steigman of Chicago, Il; her sister-in-law Laura Epstein and brother-in-law Alvin Epstein of Rockville Centre, NY and Boca Raton, Fl; along with nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and very close friends across the country. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Diane raised her family in Lynbrook, NY, and retired to Buffalo, NY. As a schoolteacher in NYC public schools, a weight loss advisor, a corporate secretary, a retail salesperson, and the owner of Walls ‘n Windows (Valley Stream, NY), Diane educated, organized, motivated, and brought interior design excellence to the community. As a leader of Temple Emanu-El (Lynbrook, NY), Diane guided her peers, educated the next generation, and helped those in need. A skilled cook with a green thumb, Diane, with Jerry at her side, opened their home to friends, family, and community alike. Funeral services were held in West Babylon, NY on Tuesday.
