In Loving Memory of

Gerald K. Lane

November 28th, 2022

Obituary

Gerald “Gerry” K. Lane, age 77, of Deerfield Illinois, formerly of Brooklyn New York passed away on November 28, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife, Mara, nee Feldman, daughter, Hillary Lane (Avi) Glandon and son, Charles (Megan) Lane.

Gerry’s love for basketball, baseball (Brooklyn Dodgers) and lemons was only exceeded by his love for his family.  His children were the apple of his eye and there was never a concert, ball game or swim meet that he missed.  His pride in the people that they have grown into, was evident to all.  He was the most fun-loving Grandpa Wedgie to Isabelle and Nate who loved watching basketball with him, playing in Grandpa’s woods, swinging in the park, reading One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and sitting on the steps when Isabelle decided he deserved a time out.

Gerry was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing basketball and tennis, jogging, and walking miles and miles daily.  Additionally, he was a music lover; there wasn’t a Motown song he couldn’t sing along to, credit the artists, name the record label and the year it was produced.

Gerry loved working with kids and started his career as a teacher of business subjects in the New York City School system and transitioned to the corporate world and eventually treasury management, stock transfer and cash management services with various financial institutions.  Of late, Gerry worked in business development in the ethnic media field with Svet and as an Inspector of Elections.

In addition to being involved in social action activities at Temple Jeremiah, serving as past president of the Temple Jeremiah Brotherhood, Gerry also enjoyed volunteering at the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

His kindness, love for people, gentle nature and patience will live on in those that remember him.  May his memory be for a blessing.
