Sitting Shiva

Shiva is a Jewish mourning tradition observed by immediate family members generally for seven days following the burial of a loved one.During this time, family and friends gather in the mourner’s home to provide comfort, share memories, and honor the deceased. The word “shiva” means seven in Hebrew, symbolizing the length of the mourning period. Traditions often include sitting on low stools as an expression of grief, covering mirrors, and reciting prayers such as the Mourner’s Kaddish.

Shiva is a sacred time for reflection, healing, and support. Sending meals or shiva baskets is a thoughtful way to express condolences, show sympathy, and ease the family’s burden during this time. These offerings typically include nourishing foods and comforting items to honor the memory of the departed while supporting the grieving family.

I want to say thank you so much. The gentleman who took my call was very helpful, the tray was beautiful and delicious, and the family was very grateful during this difficult time. Thanks so much.

Sue V. - Cleveland, OH

I want to share with your team how much the recipient enjoyed the bakery items she received. She even mentioned that she hasn't been eating much due to grief, and that the cookies were so good that they helped her start to feel the tiniest bit better.
