Obituary

Ziggy (Zygmunt) Wallach of Northbrook, IL and formerly of Skokie, IL passed away on October 5, 2022. Born in Grzymalow, Poland, he came to America in 1952 after surviving the atrocities of the Holocaust. In 1954 he wed Sally, the love he met as teenagers in a post-war Displaced Persons camp. They settled in Brooklyn and Flushing, NY where he was an ironworker (the 1964 World's Fair Globe and the Guggenheim Museum.) In 1970 they moved to Skokie, IL where he owned his own business as a North Shore general contractor and expert carpenter craftsman. They spent their later years in Northbrook, IL.
Beloved husband of the late Sally for 63 wonderful years; loving father of Michael (Lori) and Cindy (Jim) Habel; cherished and devoted Papa of Beth Hoffberg, Dan Wallach, Jordan (Emily) and Sean (Dani) Habel; loving great-grandpa of Reena and Rosie Habel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ziggy's memory to The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center, www.ilholocaustmuseum.org, would be much appreciated.
