Tina Grossman

August 3rd, 1944 - March 13th, 2022

Obituary

Tina Grossman, 77, of Chicago, Illinois died peacefully, surrounded by family, on March 13, 2022 in Evanston, Illinois. Tina was born in Dallas, Texas on August 3, 1944. She went on to study at the Sorbonne in Paris and earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Lake Forest College and her Master’s Degree in Social Work from The University of Chicago. She worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for the Department of Children and Family Services for over 25 years supporting children in foster care. She loved being a mom and delighted in becoming a grandma most of all. She was a voracious reader, a wonderful writer, and loved watching the news. She was a passionate advocate for children and a believer in the power of education to change lives. She raised her daughters to be independent, strong women. She taught them to open their eyes to suffering and injustice and to do their part to make the world a better place.

Tina is survived by her four daughters, Jen (Adam) Levine of Chicago, Naomi Gomez of Wilmette, Rebecca George of Los Angeles, and Annie Grossman (Daniel Wachter) of Evanston and her nine grandchildren, Betsy and Abby Levine, Noa and Avi Gomez, Charlotte and Maya George, Judah, Micah and Ori Wachter. Our family wishes to extend our gratitude to Anna Terenda and to the friends that Tina met while living at The Merion in Evanston. Funeral service will be held at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd. (at Niles Center Road), Skokie on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 2PM. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie.
