Obituary

Sidney Shapiro, Age 86, of Highland Park, IL passed away on August 20, 2018. Beloved husband of Muriel "Cissie" nee Smason for 65 years. Loving father of Lee (Valerie), Scott (Allison) and Jeff (Nancy). Cherished grandpa of Danny, Traci, Jake, Sara, Zack, Max and Jordan. Dear son of the late Leo and Sarah Shapiro. Sid is well known as the "Haberdasher to the Stars" as 60 years ago he founded the iconic Syd Jerome Menswear in the Chicago Loop. Sid was well known for his forward sense of fashion and the luminaries he dressed. Brother-in-law to Jackie (the late Steve) Smason and the late Eddie Smason (the late Ethel). Adored uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services Wednesday 12:30PM at North Suburban Synagogue Beth-El, 1175 Sheridan Road, Highland Park IL 60035. Interment Shalom. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gastro-Intestinal Research Foundation 20 W.
