Obituary
Shirley Irene Hoffman nee Lapin, age 91
Cherished wife for 59 years of the late Melvin G. Hoffman. Devoted and loving mother of Lonny (Barbara), Carole and Debbie Hoffman. Loving and doting grandmother to her granddogs, Shena and Sadie Hoffman. Beloved daughter of the late Dora Feldman and the late Joseph Lapin. Dear sister of the late Evelyn Brownstein and sister-in-law of the late Joyce Gilman. Fond aunt of her nieces and nephews. Shirley grew up in Chicago and attended Von Steuben High School. As a young girl of age 14, while vacationing in Union Pier/Lakeside/South Haven, MI., she met the love of her life, Melvin. One of the most important things was that they could always talk to each other. Shirley loved life and was an enormous support to her family and friends, always lending her ear and staying positive. She was an avid reader, animal lover, and sci fi movie fan, with a great sense of humor. She loved science and had wanted to work in the healthcare field. The world has lost a woman of immense compassion and integrity. We love her dearly.
