Obituary

Samuel Tepper, 91 years, 11 Months and 3 days.

Beloved husband of the late Grace nee Goldstein. Loving father of Marc (Carrie) Tepper and David (Lori) Tepper and the late Robin McCoskey. Proud grandfather of Samantha (Sean Anderson) Tepper, Daniel Tepper, Isaac Tepper, Sarah McCoskey, and Joshua (Samantha) McCoskey. Cherished great grandfather of Aurora and Grace. Adored son of the late Morris and the late Bella Tepper. Dear brother of the late Rose (the late Leonard) Fishman, the late Frances (the late Sam) Cohen and the late Marian (the late Marvin) Hoffman. Brother-in- law of Kandi-linn (Fred) Homer, the late Donna (Louis) Crow and the late Joel Goldstein. He was a proud veteran of the Korean war serving in the 1st Loudspeaker & Leaflet Company due to the family printing company which he would later go on to own and operate in Chicago and Barrington. After returning home, he met Grace while she was finishing Nursing School at Cook County Hospital. They married in 1954 and lived on the North side, then settling in Highland Park to raise their family. Early members of Congregation B’nai Torah being involved in all aspects of its growth. Semi-retiring with Grace to Lincolnshire. They welcomed each grandchild with love and affection, attending all of their special events including Bar/Bat mitzvah’s, graduations and weddings. They worked together as Real Estate Brokers with Coldwell Banker before retiring to Florida. While Grace beaded, painted and explored her artistic side, Pop as he was affectionately referred to, took a job at ABC Liquors where he would meet their closest friends George and Lucille. Moving to Florida gave them a new lease on life. In retirement they often hosted family, played cards, dominos, and mahjong. A visit to Grace & Sam’s was always filled with love, laughter and new adventures. He had an infectious laugh and never a harsh word for anyone. He was completely devoted to his wife Grace and after he could no longer care for her at home, he found Morse Life Alzheimer's facility. They provided her with amazing care along with providing Sam with tremendous support. He sold their home so he could move closer to her and visit daily. Only COVID separated them when the facility closed to all visitors. He spent the next 4 months back in his hometown, Chicago, rushing back to say goodbye before she passed away in May 2020. His final year was spent with family including his two great grand-daughters Aurora and Grace. Memorial service Friday 3:30PM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 195 N.
