Ruth Marcus

Obituary

Ruth Eiseman Marcus from Hyde Park, IL; born in Mosbach, Germany, daughter of the late Jake and Sitty Eiseman; beloved wife and best friend of the late Seymour Marcus, whom she wrangled off the dance floor to remind him of their missed blind date only to then marry him for 60 years; mother of Donald (Rhonda) Marcus, David (Julie) Marcus, Darryl Marcus and the late Daniel (Tami) Marcus; beloved grandmother to Zachary (Jordan) Marcus, Jared (Quinn) Marcus, Morgan Marcus, Brandon Marcus, Jacklyn (Grant) Nicholas, and Jessica Lerner; great grandmother to Halston Marcus; dog mom to Rylin, who she spoiled with half of all of her meals while in Highland Park; dear and honest lifelong friend to many. Ruthy, as she was lovingly referred to, came to the U.S. as an only child with her parents. She was highly educated and volunteered her time teaching English and helping children with special needs. In addition, she was President of Chicago Women's American ORT. She continued taking history classes at her community college in Sun Lakes, Arizona where she and Seymour spent their golden years when they weren't traveling the world on cruise ships. Her determined spirit helped her beat breast cancer and live another 10 years. And in true "Ruthy" fashion she left us on Betty White's 100th birthday, January 17, 2022. We're sure she is telling Betty what to do right about now. Ruthy will be dearly missed. Chapel service 10 AM Wednesday at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Shalom Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
