Richard Scott "Richie" Kurnick

Obituary

Richard Scott Kurnick, 62, loving father of Jeffrey Kurnick; devoted son of Barbara and the late Lester Kurnick; dear brother of Edward (Marcie) Kurnick; treasured uncle of Daniel Kurnick; beloved friend and former spouse of Kathy Krohn; cherished cousin and friend of many.

Born and raised in Northbrook, Illinois Richard participated in CBS USY, gymnastics, and school performances at Glenbrook North. He attended Northern Illinois University for schooling among other things, where he met some of his most cherished friends. After graduating, he lived in L.A. and Dallas. He eventually came back home to Chicago to be closer to the ones he loved most. In Northbrook, he raised a son, participated in the infamous Men of GBN, and was a devoted member of Beth Shalom's men's group. So dedicated to his community, he achieved the unofficial title of "Mayor of Northbrook".

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rich and Lester Kurnick Youth Fund at Congregation Beth Shalom (www.bethshalomnb.org). Funeral service Monday 1:30 PM at Congregation Beth Shalom, 3343 Walters Avenue, Northbrook. Congregation Beth Shalom is requiring that everyone over 2 years old, regardless of vaccination statues, wear masks (both inside and outside). Thank you for helping to keep everyone safe. Interment Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
