Obituary

Richard E. Hoffman, July 16th, 1932 - July 31st, 2022. Married almost 67 years to his great love Joanne nee Schurman. 1954 graduate of Syracuse University, Lieutenant United States Air Force, Boat Captain, Fisherman. He began his boating adventures as a boy in the waters off Long Island, and fished and cruised on his beloved Great Lakes with Joanne for over 45 years. He was involved in various philanthropic endeavors including many years on the Mount Sinai Hospital Board of Directors, serving two years as Chairman of the Board. He also volunteered for many years for Habitat for Humanity where he and Joanne made many close friends. They were among the founding members of Am Shalom in Glencoe. He didn't want a long obituary. He just wanted to be known as someone who always did his best. Son of the late Julia nee Levin and the late Abraham Hoffman. Brother of Joel Hoffman of Rye, New York. Brother-in-law of Norman (Harriet Leva) Beegun. Father of Marc (Michael Silverman) Hoffman, Mitchell (Sara) Hoffman and Matthew (Ellyn) Hoffman. Grandfather of Jacob, Joshua, Rebecca and Daniel.
