Obituary

Melvin G. Zuckerman, age 95, of Niles, IL; he served honorably during WWII in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in Japan. After the war, he returned to the University of Illinois and graduated with a degree in Metalurgical Engineering. After graduating college, Melvin secured a position with SiPi Metals and married the love of his life, Sally Ullman. For 70 years Sally and Mel enjoyed a very sweet and devoted life to each other; he was the loving father of Diane (William) Near and Holly (Arlen) Simon; cherished grandfather of Scott (Tani) Near, Stephanie (Kusi) Field, Seth (Becca) Near, Hillary (Daniel) Rosenthal, Heather (Ari) Bloomberg, and Chad Simon; adored great grandfather of 14; dear brother-in-law of Dr. Gerald A. Ullman. Graveside service Wednesday, February 23rd, 10:30 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery, Evergreen Section, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge. Contribution would be appreciated to Hillel Torah Day School, www.hilleltorah.org or Joan Dachs Bais Yaakov Elementary School, www.jdbyytt.org.
