Obituary

Maureen R. Pasik, 82, passed away peacefully on November 23, after a long and brave struggle with diabetes and kidney disease. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, Maureen moved to Acton and then Concord, MA before retiring to Lacey and then Olympia, WA.

Maureen was the beloved wife and best friend of the late Donald J. Pasik; loving mother of Ronald Pasik (Sandie Poisner Pasik) and Laura Pasik (Paul Norris); cherished grandmother of Joanna Pasik, Rebecca (Jonathan) Marx and Alicia (Trevor) Pasik Edwards; adoring great-grandmother of Benjamin Noah Marx and Leah Louise Marx; dear daughter of the late Nathan and Esther Jean Brewer; affectionate sister of Sandra (Benjamin) Ginsberg and Jacquelyn (John) Fechter; caring sister-in-law of Ruth (the late James) Ruben, the late Robert Pasik and the late David (the late Virginia) Pasik; fond former mother-in-law of Dana Ruben Pasik; special companion of the late Lawrence Cahill; treasured aunt, cousin and friend of many.

Maureen was a homemaker, a public school volunteer, a civil rights activist, and a veteran political organizer who worked on many national, state and local campaigns. After her children were grown she worked as a group facilitator at Emerge, the first domestic abuser education program in the United States and a national leader in working to end violence in intimate relationships. Maureen was an expert bridge player, a challenge level square dancer, a movie and trivia buff, and a pillar of Capital Place, her retirement community in Olympia, WA. However her greatest joy in life was her family.
