Obituary

Marshall Bruce “Zayde” Tanhoff, of Owings MIlls, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, September 5th, 2021 at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Doris Tanhoff (nee Kaplan); by his children Anne Tanhoff (Rabbi David) Greenspoon, Hope Tanhoff (Mike Pierre), and Denise Tanhoff (Dan) Moldover; his legacy lives on through his grandchildren Miles Greenspoon, Micah Greenspoon, Adam Moldover, Ethan Goldberg, Sarah Moldover, and Carly Goldberg. He was predeceased by his parents Yetta and Jack Tanhoff, and by his sister Gayle Teegarden.

Marshall was a proud veteran of The United States Marine Corps, having served ten years. Following his service in the Marines, Marshall was an entrepreneur, owning a variety of successful retail businesses in Washington, DC and Baltimore City. Originally from The Bronx, New York, “Zayde” eventually betrayed his childhood Yankees for his beloved Orioles. In his retirement, Marshall volunteered at the Baltimore VA Medical Center and for the Jewish National Fund, though his proudest work was as “Chief Money Counter” at the Beth Israel Randallstown Purim Carnival each year.
