Obituary

Linda Bloom (nee Hurst), of Columbia, MD, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She is survived by her beloved husband Mark Bloom; children, Michael (Kristin) Bloom, and Geoffrey (Kerry) Bloom; siblings, Larrie (Susan) Hurst, and Al (Donna) Hurst; grandchildren, Shayna, Kaylee, Lindsey, Jonathan, and Andrew; brother-in-law, Richard (Karen) Bloom; as well as nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Bertha Hurst.

Linda grew up in Newton Massachusetts, attending Boston University and University of Maryland for her teaching degrees. It was in Newton that she met her husband Mark on a blind date in High School. They hit it off and he was lucky enough to bring her to the senior prom in High School. Mark and Linda were married August 16, 1967 and have built a family and life together that anyone could be proud of. She was a loving and caring mother to her two children at home as well as the children she taught over her long career as an educator. Working at the National Education Administration, Hebrew Day School and Montgomery County Public Schools she always seamlessly juggled the demands of her career alongside her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda enjoyed reading, canasta, Mah Jongg, and spending her time with her family, especially supporting her granddaughters' plays and grandsons sports and other activities. She cared deeply for those around her, donating her time to the Snowden Overlook Community Association and helping friends and family whenever she could. Linda was a kind, loving, compassionate person who always prioritized those around her, especially her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her. May her memory be for a blessing always.

Services will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, 1pm, at Columbia Memorial Park, 12005 Clarksville Pike, Clarksville, MD, 21029. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Gilchrist Hospice, online at gilchristcares.org, or National Prion Disease Center, online at https://cjdfoundation.org/about-cjd.
