Obituary

Joseph Perlstein "Mr P", 77, February 26, 2023; beloved husband and best friend of Evelyn (nee Zukerman) for 55 1/2 wonderful years; loving father of Brad, Sherri (Robb) Goldstein, and Jeff (Mary Parente); cherished "Grandpa Joe" to Leo Perlstein, Bekka Goldstein, Margaret Perlstein, Max Goldstein, Ben Perlstein and Lila Perlstein; much loved brother of Mitchell (Maureen), Loren (May) and Susan (George) Mandl; fond brother in-law of Ilene (Don) Stiernberg and the late Marlene Cross; dear uncle, great uncle and friend to all who knew him. "Mr P" worked for the Chicago Public Schools for 36 years at Washington-Irving Elementary School; where he worked as Assistant Principal then Dean of Students before returning to his true passion as a teacher. He was always there to help, whether it be a student or a neighbor who was working on a project; he was a true handyman. He will be dearly missed. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimers Association (www.als.org/greater-chicago). Chapel Service, Wednesday, March 1, 2023, 2:30 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home 1700 W.
