Obituary
Jesse Schessel, MD, age 94, of Highland Park, formerly of New Rochelle, NY; Dr. Schessel was a respected pediatrician and pediatric cardiologist at Montefiore Hospital in Bronx, NY for over 30 years. Later, a pediatrician with the North Shore Physicians Group in Illinois; beloved husband for 55 years of the late Nanette Schessel; loving partner of Eleanor “Ellie” Silverman; loving father of Dr. David (Dr. Marianne) Schessel, Larry (Marcie) Schessel, Robin (Marc) Halap, and Marc (Terri) Schessel; adored Papa and Grandpa of Katie (Ted) Dembowski, Leah (Chad) Otens, Nikki (Andy Horvath) Fleming, Sami Halap, Adam (fiancée Kristie Goodman) Schessel, and Brian Halap; proud great grandfather of Nash, Sarah, Everly, Esme, Reid, and Garrett; devoted son of the late Harry and the late Bella Schessel; dear brother of Eve (Norman) Plotkin and the late Dr. Eli (late Martha) Schessel; fond brother-in-law of Dr. Burton (Jeanne) Siegel and the late Edward (late Gertrude) Siegel and the late Barbara (Dr. Bernard) Frankel. Also survived by Ellie’s children Steven (Kristine Givan) Silverman, David (Lisa) Silverman, and Lisa (Dave) Neu and Ellie’s grandchildren Paige Silverman, Andrea, Philip, and Ike Silverman, Olivia and Sophie Richardson. Jesse will be missed and remembered by all his family and friends. Service Monday 12 Noon at The Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove (1 Blk N. of Lake Cook Rd.).
