Jerome David Schnydman

Obituary

Jerome David Schnydman passed away at the age of 77 on October 25, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Tamara Tucker Schnydman, his children Rebecca (Larry) Mossing and Andrew (Nancy) Schnydman and grandchildren Tucker Mossing, Cassidy Mossing, Chloe Schnydman and Jason Schnydman. He is also survived by siblings Samuel (Thea) Schnydman and Hobie (Milton) Bruckner as well as cousins, brothers-and sisters- in-law, nieces, nephews, and dear, dear friends.

A devoted husband, father, and friend, Jerome was also dedicated to the Baltimore community, especially Johns Hopkins University where, over his 37 year career, he was a beloved lacrosse coach, Admissions Director, then Alumni Director, and finally the Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Over the years, he served on a number of Boards of Trustees including the Associated Jewish Federation, The Central Scholarship Bureau, St. Paul’s School, and the Baltimore School for the Arts. He also served as the President of Beth El Congregation. A three time All American lacrosse player while a student at Johns Hopkins University, Jerome was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2003. Beyond these accomplishments, Jerome was larger than life and beloved by all who knew him.

Funeral services will take place at Beth El Congregation, 8101 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21208, on Thursday, October 28th, at 11:00 AM. Interment at Har Sinai Cemetery, 11373 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mill, MD. Immediately following interment, an outdoor reception will be held in the Pavilion at Beth El Congregation.

Shiva will take place at the Schnydman Residence, 8234 Streamwood Drive, Baltimore, MD 21208, Thursday, October 28th at 7 pm with services at 7:30 pm, Friday, October 29th from 10 am - 3pm, Saturday, October 30th at the conclusion of Shabbat from 7-9 pm, Sunday, October 31st from 9 am - 8 pm with services at 9:30 am and 5:30 pm. As a reminder masks are required.
