James E. Leopold.
Jim Leopold May 3, 1918-December 28, 2017-family man, entrepreneur, unapologetic Cubs' fan and military hero. Beloved husband of the late Teresa "Teddy" (Fischel) and the late Marjorie (Rosenberg Futransky). Cherished companion of the late Natalie Mackler. Jim is survived by his children Susie (Norman Pappas) of Bloomfield Hills MI; Richard (Joanie Rogers) of Northbrook IL; Jay (Sara Reingold) of Scottsdale AZ; and by step-sons David Futransky (Nancy Liebman) of Skokie IL and Alan Futransky of Sebastopol CA. He was also the loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Drafted into the Army/ 47th Infantry in 1941, his military leadership and bravery won him four Purple Hearts, a Silver Star and a battlefield commission during World War II’s North Africa campaign. Rebuilding his life after the war he became the consummate salesman, first at Formfit Rogers and Genesco and then as the owner of Vulcanium Corporation and Industrial Titanium Corporation in Northbrook Illinois. Services will be held at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd., (at Niles Center Rd.) Skokie on Sunday, December 31 at 1:00 PM. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org), the National World War II Museum (www.nationalww2museum.org), or the charity of your choice.
