Obituary

James Stuart Adelman, died peacefully at home in Winnetka on January 29. Born in Chicago in 1938 to the late Ruth and Irwin Adelman and brother of Donald (deceased), Jim attended Francis Parker, Carleton College, and Columbia University Law School before launching a 45+ year career as an attorney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Marcia, daughter Elizabeth, son Daniel (Elizabeth), grandchildren Jane and Jack, and sister-in-law Diane. Jim will be remembered for his energy and strength of spirit. Always up for the next adventure, he had a lifelong love of politics, news, books, music, theater, comedy, world travel and cuisine, and great anecdotes. He enjoyed nothing more than sharing these passions, and so much laughter, with his many friends and loving family. A great dancer and avid walker, Jim found new ways to exercise as Parkinson's disease continued to limit his mobility. The family is deeply grateful to their caregivers, Elsa, Jun, Ed, and Jeffrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkinson's Foundation www.parkinson.org or Am Yisrael Congregation, www.amyisrael.org. Services are private. To leave condolences and for information, including a link to view the service: Shalom Memorial Funeral Home (847) 255-3520 or www.shalom2.com.
