Obituary

Miksis, Gerald F, 67, of Linwood. In the evening of Saturday, April 10, 2021, Gerald F. Miksis, retired civil trial attorney certified by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey and sole proprietor of Miksis Vineyards, departed this world. Born September 20, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Felix and Helen Miksis, Gerry earned his B.S. from Drexel University in 1975, followed by his J.D. from Rutgers Law School in Camden in 1978. At Rutgers, he had the good fortune to meet his life’s meaning, Mona Raskin, whom he wed in 1980. Over the next 40 years, Gerry developed an esteemed legal practice in the greater Atlantic City area, but his real passions were being an avid student of history, finding the perfect lobster at Bob’s to enjoy on the deck overlooking his vineyard, and basking in pride over the achievements of his children. Gerry always knew exactly the right thing to say and loved to tease by often saying just the opposite. Gerry is survived by his adoring wife Mona, son Arthur, daughter Janna Canavan (and her husband, Jason), and two-year-old grandson, Grant, who knew Gerry only as “the Cap’n.” He is also survived by his loving brother Thomas and Thomas's fiancée, Lisa Montserat; loving sister-in-law, Marilyn Raskin-Ortiz (and her husband, Mike); and nieces and nephews Jennifer, Lisa, Jeffrey, Michael, and Rachel. Graveside services will be Friday, April 16th at 2:00pm at Beth Israel Cemetery, 6804 E. Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township. For those who cannot attend in person, a live stream will be available at www.jsgfunerals.com, where you can also leave your condolences and tributes. Contributions may be made in Gerry’s memory to Congregation Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Goodbye, Cap’n; we’ll miss you dearly.
