Obituary
Burton (Burt) Kaufman, age 89, of Skokie, passed away peacefully in his home May 23, 2022. Burt was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Marian Kaufman, nee Hecker, where they met on a hayride in 1952; he was the loving father of Mitchell Kaufman, Ilyse Vishny, and Wendi Rosenblat; adored grandfather of Leah (Michael) Blum, Andrew Rosenblat, Blake Vishny, and Brandon Kaufman; proud great-grandfather of Theodore, Preston, and Juliette Blum; cherished and loving companion Sheila Russakov; devoted son of the late William and the late Jeanette Kaufman; dear brother of the late Marian (late Edward) Saltzberg; treasured uncle and friend of many.
Burt is a graduate of Marshall High School Class of 1950, upon graduating he attended the University of Illinois-Navy Pier and Wright Junior College. He ultimately graduated from Drake University College of Pharmacy in 1955 where he was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi and played on their softball team. Burt was also a member of the Pharmacy fraternity Rho Pi Phi.
Burt was drafted into the Navy in March of 1956 and served two years in the Medical Service Corps. After his discharge from the Navy, Burt worked at Walgreens from 1957 to 1973, where he held the positions of pharmacist, store manager, and district manager. From 1973 to 1981 Burt owned and operated three drug stores. In 1981, Burt worked at Edsal Manufacturing until he retired in 2017. He held the following positions with Edsal: Manager of Customer Service, Manager of Purchasing, and National Sales Manager.
Burt was a lifelong Cubs fan and fulfilled his dream of being an usher for the Cubs in 2017, 2018, 2019.
