Obituary

Alvin S. Lauter, known by his friends and family as Al, of Chicago Illinois passed away suddenly on Monday, June 7, 2021, at the age of 86. Alvin was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 21,1935, to the late Morris and the late Bessie Lauter. Alvin loved his family's roots in Mendota, Illinois but for most of his life called Chicago his home. He maintained many lifelong friendships and will be remembered by them for his large wonderful laugh and adventurous spirit. Alvin was a loving and devoted father of Bradley, Kelly Borre, Amy (Freddie) Rickel. An adored Grandpa of Kylie, Brett and Randy Borre and Alex and Cassidy Rickel. A Devoted son of Morris and Bessie Lauter: survived by his sister Eunice Mason, proceeded in death by 6 other siblings. A beloved lifelong partner to Denise Stein. He will be fondly remembered for his love for life, his endless creative ideas, beautiful paintings and his devotion to all Chicago Sports. He was a US army veteran and a successful businessman in the men's clothing industry for most of his life. Owner of well known, Chicago neckwear manufacturer Carter and Holmes until he retired in 2015. Graveside Service Tuesday 10:30AM at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 West Montrose.
