Alan Marshall Goldberg

Obituary

Alan Marshall Goldberg passed away July 6 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Beth Kling and cherished father of Mimi Goldberg and Sarah Fiedler (Benjamin). Alan was born in Chicago, the son of Sheldon and Harriet Goldberg. He attended New Trier High School and Columbia University. In addition to being a devoted father and husband, Alan led a life of service to others. He was involved for many years with New Trier Township in numerous capacities including recently as Supervisor. He was a long-time board member at UCP Seguin and served on the Illinois Interagency Council on Early Intervention and as chairman of the Illinois Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities. In 2002, Alan was named a Kennedy Fellow in Washington DC where he advocated for those with disabilities. In addition to his wife and daughters, Alan leaves nieces Wendy Chiswick (Ben) and Dana Goldberg, and grandniece and nephews Maya, Shel, and Orin. Alan's brother Bruce (Fran) predeceased him. Service Thursday, 2:30 PM at Am Yisrael Conservative Synagogue, 4 Happ Road, Northfield. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. (Masks required for attendance).
