Obituary

Melvin Frankel, Mayer ben Yakov, 95, passed away peacefully on January 8th, beloved husband of the late Lillian Frankel; loving father to Gary (Wendy) Frankel and Renee Lambert; cherished grandfather to Joshua (Jamie) Frankel, Dayna and Jesse Lambert, and Adam (Ariella) Furst; great grandfather to Noah and Jackson Frankel. Mel had a special sense of humor that always made it easy for people to connect with him. He was also known for his strength of character and his enormous positive attitude. Mel was proud of his Navy service during WWII, his lifetime membership in The Chicago Teachers Union, and his long involvement as a Director of United Synagogue Youth. As an administrator of District 2 he was also proud of his participation in the desegregation of public schools. Mel was strong in his faith in Judaism and believed that in his passing he would sit beside GOD and for all eternity be with his beloved wife Lil. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Graveside service Friday, January 14th, noon at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights.
