Obituary

Vila Willens, 100, beloved wife of the late Samuel D. Willens, MD, devoted daughter of the late William and Catherine Weaver, Beloved and devoted mother of sons Daniel and Richard (Cheri) and daughters Nancy (Richard Wollensak) and Lisabeth. Grandmother to Cameron David and Kira Samantha Wollensak. Vila came to Chicago at the beginning of WW II and trained to be a nurse for the Women's Army Corp. The war ended before she gained her RN, but she worked at Cook County Hospital where she met and eventually married her husband. She was active in the Michael Reese Women's Auxiliary where she had served as president before devoting her time to her young family. She and her husband loved the Chicago Symphony and held season's tickets. In later years she researched her genealogy and joined the Ft. Dearborn chapter of the DAR. Generous to her extended family, her kindness and well-known involvement and devotion to intellectual discussion and political argument will be greatly missed.
