Allen L. Horwitz

Obituary

Dr. Allen L. Horwitz, 76, beloved husband and best friend of Diane, nee Rowe, for 31 wonderful years; devoted son of the late Jeanette and Philip Horwitz; dear brother of Mark (Roselyn) Horwitz, Gary (Jean) Horwitz, Miriam Horwitz and brother-in-law of Edward (Judith) Rowe; treasured uncle, cousin and friend of many. Allen held a doctorate degree in medicine and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Chicago. He also studied at the Weizmann Institute in Israel and was a major contributor to genetic research and teaching. Allen was proud to be a faculty member at the University of Chicago and the University of Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation and the American Heart Association. A celebration of Allen's life will be held a later date. Private graveside service.
