Obituary
Betty F. Rozenfeld, nee Frankel, age 97, beloved wife of the late Dr. Irving H. Rozenfeld for 70 years. Loving mother of Dr. David (Barbara) Rozenfeld, Dr. Deborah (Rabbi Charles) Dobrusin, Dr. Ellen (Dr. Milford Schwartz) Rozenfeld, Jonathan (Jill Korey) Rozenfeld and Dr. Ranna (Dr. Shane Greenstein) Rozenfeld. Proud Grandmother of Nami (David) Goldenberg, Yael (Phillip) Frankel, Dr. Michael (Dr. Payal Patel) Rozenfeld, Shai (Samantha) Dobrusin, Daniel (Alex) Rozenfeld, Dr. Ethan (Rabbanit Leah Sarna) Schwartz, Emily Schwartz, Jordan and Sydney Rozenfeld, Noah, Rebecca, Ilana and Eli Greenstein. Cherished great grandmother of Gali, Eytan and Rafi Goldenberg, Tali and Ari Frankel, Diya and Jai Rozenfeld, Isaac Rozenfeld, Noa Dobrusin and Cyrus Sarna Schwartz. Fond aunt and great aunt of many. Beloved daughter of the late Sam and Manya Frankel. Devoted sister of the late Dorothy Wexler and the late Rabbi Irving Frankel.
Betty received a BA from the University of Chicago in June 1944 and a Master’s degree from the School of Social Service Administration also at the University of Chicago in September 1945. She was a life member of NaAmat and Hadassah, and was active from the earliest years of the State of Israel Bonds Campaign. In March 1973, she received Israel’s 25th Anniversary Founders Award from Itzhak Rabin, then Ambassador from Israel to the United States. Betty was active at Rodfei Shalom Or Chodesh where she was Vice President of Education. She then became active at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El where she was on the Education Board, Youth Commission, Ritual Committee, Sisterhood VP as Torah Fund Chair and VP for Social Action and Israel Affairs. She was also a Life Trustee of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. Her most important and lasting legacy is her love for and selfless devotion to her family.
