Obituary

Nathan “Jim” Meyerhoff, 87, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 14, 2021. Beloved husband of Helen nee Yafa. Loving father of Amy (Gary) Bazelon, Jill Meyerhoff and Peter (Jenny) Meyerhoff. Cherished “Jimpa” of Jenna (Adam), Daniel, Jonathan, Sam, Emma, Adam and Noah. Proud great-grandfather of Avigail. Dear brother of the late Jeanne and the late Miriam “Mitzi” and brother-in-law of Stephen (Bonnie) Yafa. Fond uncle of Joshua, Gail, Michael, Barbara, Suzanne, Leslie and Elizabeth. Jim graduated Williams College (1956), served in the US Army as a radio operator and was a member of the Chicago Stock Exchange and the CBOE. Jim’s most meaningful work was with the numerous civic and social organizations with which he volunteered, including Avenue of the Righteous, where he served as President, and Nuestro Center and Grand Timers, where he served as a dedicated tutor and teacher. He loved music, the Cubs, his friends and above all his family. Service Tuesday, 12 noon at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd., (at Niles Center Rd.) Skokie. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
