Obituary

Evelyn B. Gold, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 10, 2021. She was born in Chicago in 1927 to Hyman and Dora Kaplan of blessed memory. Evelyn was the beloved wife of Abe Gold and an amazing sister to Sidney Kaplan, Gerson Kaplan, and Miriam Clarke of blessed memory. Evelyn was a life-long Hyde Parker, proudly residing on the south side of Chicago and as a young woman attended a two-year course of study at the University of Chicago before taking a position with a locally based company. Her passion for travel and theatre ignited an adventurous spirit within and she became a travel agent for many years, planning excursions professionally, as well as for herself and family. Evelyn was a prolific reader and consumed a few books weekly. She also was frequently seen with The New York Times Crossword puzzle in hand and at the ready should the occasion permit. Family, friends, and neighbors alike will miss her kind heart, warm smile, and gentle demeanor. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Montgomery Place Retirement Home, 5550 S Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60637, www.montgomeryplace.org/giving, where Evelyn resided for the last couple of years of her life.
