Lilyan Elizabeth Muraff nee Elfenbaum, 96

Beloved wife of the late Bernard Muraff. Loving mother of Laura Muraff, Barry Muraff and James (life partner Dorie Isaacson) Muraff. Devoted grandmother of Jeremy (Sarah Shanz) Iloulian, Rebecca Iloulian, Bryn Muraff and Drew Muraff. She was born in Port Arthur, TX, raised in New Orleans. Lilyan spent several summers in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina working at Camp Blue Star. She lived in Cincinnati working at the Hebrew Union College for Reform Rabbis. She loved to work and volunteer for many Jewish organizations including the JCC and other institutions. Was a child of the Great Depression and part of the “Greatest Generation.” A volunteer nurse during WWII with the American Red Cross. She migrated to Chicago in the late 1950’s where she met her husband and raised her family in the Northshore. She was very proud that she had the ability to raise her family and work full time in various positions and industries until her mid 80’s. She was featured in the book Still Working After All These Years by Toni Rey. She also enjoyed volunteering for many school and parent organizations and causes. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the chapel service and interment are private.
