Geraldine Salzman

Obituary

Geraldine Salzman nee Dintzis age 95.

Dear mother of David Salzman, Richard Salzman, Steven (Lisa) Salzman, Judy Salzman, and Beth Salzman Gordon. Adoring grandmother of Allison (Oscar Carvajal) Salzman, Laura (Sean O’Connor) Gordon, Daniel (Melissa) Salzman, and Ariana (Chris Spencer) Matthews-Salzman. Cherished sister of the late Eleanor (the late Erwin) Guttman. Beloved aunt of Lanni (the late George Gross) Guttman, Denni (Bill) Cuthbert, Lita Guttman. Great-aunt to Lara and Donielle. Loving friend, mother, aunt and cousin to many. Her home was always open to all. Geraldine grew up on the west side of Chicago and attended the University of Chicago in Hyde Park. She worked at Tech Institute of Northwestern University and enjoyed flying planes with the Northwestern Flying Club. In the 1970s she was a pioneer of biofeedback clinical practice at BRAIN labs in Arlington Heights. She was an active community member of JRC Evanston, becoming a Bat Mitzvah at 75 years young! Gerry devoted herself to the practice of Tai Chi for over 40 years and enjoyed skiing, traveling, reading, gardening, studying languages and listening to classical music. Determined to live life to the fullest, she overcame the odds many times over. She was a champion of the underdog and inspired others with her strength. A lover of cats, dogs, flowers and chocolate, Geraldine’s greatest passion was connecting with people, sharing stories and learning about the many wonders of the world. To keep everyone safe and healthy, the interment service will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave, Montgomery, AL 36104 www.splcenter.org and to The Foundation for Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation PO Box 180018, Chicago, IL 60618 www.fhsr.org.
