Obituary

Bobette "Bobby" Sheryl Schochet, nee Schwartz, she was born to Allen and Blossom (nee Fingerett) Schwartz in Chicago and grew up on the South Side and Skokie. She lived in Detroit, Silver Spring, and Hollywood, FL. She is survived by her siblings, Michael (Nancy) Schwartz, Martin Schwartz, Neal Schwartz, and Julie Schwartz Zeff, her children, Ariel Schochet, Elie Schochet, and Shana (Ari) Lowell, and her beloved grandchildren Sara, Sivya, Eliana, Ayelet, Frank, JJ, Meir, Noam, Yishai, Gavriel, Ilan, and Nadav, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, and friends.

Bobby, also known as Ima, Bobby, Bubbie, or Auntie Bobby, was the ultimate giver. She was a firm rock of support for whatever befell anyone in her circle, including especially her children and grandchildren, but also numerous other relatives, friends, and people she just met. No matter how big or how small her home was it was always open and welcoming to anyone. She didn't know the word "no" and never, ever hesitated to give to those in need, whether she had it or not. She always answered when you called and always knew what to say.

Bobby knew everything about the family, she was always the one to ask. She was a great storyteller and knew the entire family tree. She inspired a great love of history and was a phenomenal teacher. She was incredibly proud of her children and grandchildren and extended family. Bobby had tremendous grace and beauty, and this was reflected in the incredible artwork she created, which enriches the homes of many friends and relatives. The care and compassion she exuded is evident in everything she touched.

Bobby was a founding member of Young Israel of Southfield and chaired their sisterhood. She was president of the Akiva Day School PTA. She was originally a high school history teacher, then homemaker, paralegal, and finally a glass artist. She gave to many organizations and cared deeply about people, the planet, and especially animals. She always had a special eye for those who could not speak for or defend themselves.

Bobby loved deeply and well and was loved because of it. She will be dearly missed.
