Obituary

Cary Ellis Bellows, age 74, beloved husband of the late Cantor Beryl Bellows z”l, to whom he
was married to for nearly 44 years; adored son of Jay W. z”l and Adelaide Bellows z”l; loving
father of Marci (Seth) Bellows Lindenman, Lindsay (Matthew Atias) Bellows, Adam (Melissa)
Bellows, and Ricky (Melissa) Bellows; proud grandfather of Max, Spencer, Lila, Maya, Jonah, and
Henrietta; cherished brother of late Elyse (Brian Baumann z”l, Arnie Krisolofsky z”l) Baumann-
Krisolofsky, Michael Bellows, Janis (Mark) Fine; treasured uncle of Heather (Dave) Baumann
Weiser, Eric (Andrea) Baumann, Josh (Liz Litvak) Fine. Cary was born on the south side of
Chicago; Jeffrey Manor. He was active in AZA and went to college when he was 16 to the
University of Illinois at Chicago. He taught high school chemistry in CPS where he met his
beloved Cantor Beryl Bellows z”l. We are comforted knowing he is reunited with the love of his
life. Later in his career he worked in life insurance sales, as a mortgage broker, and
Entrepreneur. He began everyday with wishes to, “Have fun, Be smart”. Cary was a jack of all
trades who treasured his Judaism, most especially in the front row of services to watch Beryl
sing. He studied Talmud & Rashi and would have been an amazing rabbi. He loved to read, go to
museums, Oak Street beach, and the Chicago Botanic Gardens. He especially loved being a Dad
and Papa. Being a mensch was the number 1 thing, finding a quarter behind your ear; having a
dad joke ready, always a pen ready for tic tac toe or dots, finding a good walking stick at the
forest preserve. He played piano and guitar and readily shared his love of music with his family.
