Obituary

Doris H. Gold, nee Golberg, age 96, beloved of the late Samuel Gold; loving mother of Carol (Barry) Melnick and Iris (Patrick) Noonan; adored grandma of Brian (MaryBeth) Chapman, Stacy (Dawn Greene) Chapman, Sheryl (Pablo) Man, Laura (Ryan) Failla, Marcy (Shawn Eastley) Bock-Eastley, and Keith (Kate) Melnick; proud great grandma of Samuel and Audrey Man, Elanor Failla, Jordan and Dylan Bock, Carter, Piper, and Brady Melnick, Cayla and Hailey Greene, Ramsey Doner; devoted daughter of the late Isadore and Sarah (Lerman) Golberg, cherished sister of the late Adeline (late Nathan) Pokoik, and the late Eleanor (late Julius) Kagan; dear daughter-in-law of the late Isadore and the late Mary Gold, fond sister-in-law of the late Faye (late Max) Shulman, the late Milton (late Betty) Gold, and the late Gilbert Gold.

Doris was a remarkable woman, an accomplished professional artist, and a mural artist for her own business, Murals by Doris. She always had a love of drawing and the arts.

Doris had her own First Day Cover business for creation of US Postal Cachets for the Post Office for over 40 years with hundreds of collectors, nationally and internationally.
She wrote newsletters for her business. She won many awards for her postal cachets. There is a display of her cachet artwork in the Smithsonian Institution Museum.

Doris won a postmark design contest in 1974 for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. She had many hobbies. Her family was the most important thing to her.

Graveside service Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Shalom Memorial Park, Rand & Wilke Rds, Arlington Heights. The service will be livestreamed at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
