Shirley Schuster, age 95, of Highland Park, dedicated retired Chicago Public School teacher and long-time member of North Suburban Synagogue Beth El; beloved wife of the late Irwin Schuster; loving mother of Alane (Peter Epstein) Schuster-Epstein, Judy (Harold) Harris, David Schuster, and Susie Axelrod; adored grandma of Barri (Adam) Werth, Ari Epstein, Alisa (Nick Paulson) Harris, Elana (Paul Desai) Harris, Bobby (Melanie) Schuster, Michelle Schuster, Zachary and Shana Axelrod; proud great grandmother of Benjamin, Lucas, Gabbi, and Emilia; devoted daughter of the late Alex and the late Dora Kamenir; dear sister of the late Edward (Charlotte) Kamenir; treasured aunt and friend to many. Shirley was a woman of valor. A lesson in class and aging gracefully, the family matriarch, independent, the height of sociability, came from a line of strong women and a force to be reckoned with. She was brilliant and better at math and finances than most, giving and selfless beyond description. Service Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. CST at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El, 1175 Sheridan Rd., Highland Park. Masks will be required at Beth El.
