Obituary

John Joseph Baum, an amazing 99 years, born in Wiesbaden, Germany, and survived the Holocaust when his family immigrated to Chicago in 1939. John served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After the War, he returned to Chicago, married, and began a family. His career in the glass business spanned over 40 years.

He was the loving husband for 69 years of the late Jane Baum, nee O’Rourke; adored father of Dr. Peter (Yung) Baum and Susan (Arthur Diers) Buono; proud grandfather of Dr. Frank (Amanda), Atalie (Ben), Sarah (Zach), and Katrina; treasured great-grandfather of Louis, Vincent, and Greta; devoted son of the late Albert and the late Paula (nee Samuel) Baum; dear brother of Eric (late Betty) Baum; cherished uncle and friend.

Private graveside service at Rosehill Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. CT at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com.
